Pour-over coffee ritual

The Black Origin method

One cup. Four pours.

A forgiving recipe for clarity, sweetness and a quiet five minutes.

Follow the method

Pour-over · 1 cup

15 grams in. 250 grams out.

Use filtered water just off boil, a medium-fine grind and any cone-shaped brewer.

00:00

Bloom · 45 g

Wet all grounds evenly, then wait until forty-five seconds. Fresh coffee will rise and release trapped gas.

00:45

First pour · 120 g

Pour slowly in small circles, keeping the water level just above the coffee bed.

01:20

Second pour · 185 g

Return to the center, then widen the circle without touching the paper.

01:55

Final pour · 250 g

Finish gently. The last drops should pass through around 2:45–3:00.

Measure carefully. Pour gently. Taste before changing anything.
